Ross to debut
Seb Ross will make his AFL debut this Saturday against the GIANTS, as the Saints make five changes for their game on Saturday
The Saints' number one pick from the 2011 National Draft has been rewarded for his consistent performances this season with the club’s VFL affiliate Sandringham.??
"Seb Ross comes into the team this week on the back of four weeks of good form at Sandringham," Scott Watters said.
"In fact, he would have been likely to debut earlier if it wasn't for a minor injury several weeks ago."
In addition to Ross, senior coach Scott Watters has made four other changes with the inclusion of Terry Milera, Jack Newnes, Arryn Siposs and Tom Ledger for the Saints clash against the AFL newcomers.
"It's pleasing to have Ledger, Milera, Newnes and Siposs return to the team because all have made solid contributions throughout 2012 and represent a strong part of the Saints' future."
Captain Nick Riewoldt has been ruled out this week and is unlikely to play again this season as he continues his rehabilitation for a right knee tendon injury sustained during Round 20.
Two others players whose seasons have come to a premature end are Sam Fisher (toe) and Adam Schneider (foot). Both will undergo surgery in the coming week to prepare for the pre-season.??Saturday’s game will mark a milestone for on-baller Jack Steven, who will play his 50th AFL game.
The 22-year-old was recruited from the Geelong Falcons in 2007 and made his Saints debut against the Hawks in Round 19 of the 2009 season. He was one of the club’s most consistent performers last season, winning a NAB Rising Star nomination.
This season, under the direction of coach Scott Watters, the club has focused on developing players and providing opportunities. On Saturday, the side features eleven new faces when compared to the Saints final game of 2011.
