After playing a critical role in leading the Saints’ defence in Season 2019, Nathan Brown's experience will be incredibly influential in inspiring the next generation of defenders.

Brown’s leadership was first-class all throughout Season 2019, with the Premiership backman finishing second in the league for average spoils and one-percenters from just 16 games.

His many runs on the board and knowledge of the game have been formative to the Saints' emerging defenders in the reserves, with Brown even enjoying some success up forward with a goal against Carlton.

Brown departed the club's Noosa hub in July and returned to Victoria in the best interests of his family; a move the club wholeheartedly supports and respects.

As was his way, the veteran Saint slipped out of Noosa quietly as part of a low-key exit strategy designed to avoid the emotional goodbyes.

But the much-loved Saint wasn’t leaving without letting his teammates know how much they meant to him, or how much belief he had in the future of the Saints, with a heartfelt letter read to the playing group following his departure from the hub.

Brown was originally selected by Collingwood with pick No. 10 in the 2006 National Draft, before making his way to St Kilda at the end of 2016.
