Tarni White’s courage couldn’t be questioned in her first year at the elite level, and neither could her talent or importance to the side.
While a devastating ACL injury – her second in as many years – in Round 4 halted the promising Saint’s progress, the young Queenslander showed plenty to confirm her fierce determination and first-class skillset.
After being snapped up by St Kilda with pick No. 30 in the 2019 Women’s Draft, the Coorparoo recruit burst from the blocks as a reliable rebounding defender.
White was unlucky not to snare a Rising Star nomination in Round 2 (18 disposals, 10 marks), and by season’s end, had topped the club’s rebound count from just four games.
White’s commitment to fulfilling her childhood dream has never wavered despite her lengthy setbacks, and now, as she completes her road to recovery, the path towards a 2021 return is crystal clear.
