Small in stature but big in terms of potential: that’s the story of Jack Peris heading into his debut season as a Saint.
The lightning-quick prospect joined the club as a Category B Rookie alongside fellow PURA Next Generation Academy member and AMC Indigenous Scholarship holder Josiah Kyle, with his superb athleticism and pace two of his most defining on-field characteristics.
Despite his light frame, Peris isn't afraid to put the pressure on his opponents through his tackling pressure and work in and around the contest.
The athletic half-back also has several close ties and parallels with family friend – and now, teammate – Ben Long, with the pair having grown up together in Darwin, both boarding at Melbourne Grammar and coming from respective sporting bloodlines.
Peris, son of Olympic Gold Medallist Nova Peris OAM and the late Daniel Batman, had eyes on running at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics before COVID-19 brought his comeback from a hamstring tear to a halt.
