There are big kicks, and then there are the ones that fly like rockets off Arie Schoenmaker’s boot.
The Tasmanian teen armed with a powerful left leg was tipped early in the year as a top prospect heading into the 2023 AFL Draft, however slipped all the way down the order to pick No. 62 where the Saints swooped in to secure his services.
Although primarily plying his trade as a key back, Schoenmaker’s size and strength doesn’t come at a detriment to his speed, with the 194cm defender boasting a handy set of wheels to complement to his developing skillset.
Schoenmaker forms part of the Saints’ 2023 draft blitz, which also brought Darcy Wilson, Lance Collard, Angus Hastie and Hugo Garcia to RSEA Park.
