Rewind to the start of this year, and Bianca Jakobsson had doubts as to whether she’d ever take to the football field again.
The former Demon made the tough decision to step away from the game in early 2020 in order to complete her Police Academy training. And there was the very real chance that hanging up the boots would be permanent.
But Jakobsson managed to reignite her football dream, joining St Kilda during last year's trade period to shore up the club's backline.
It appeared as if the defender would miss a sizeable chunk of the season after breaking her collarbone in a practice match against Carlton, but a miraculous recovery had her back out on the park by Round 2.
Jakobsson played seven games in her first season at RSEA Park, often grappling with the opposition's best defender and providing stability through her intercept plays and desperate acts.
Jakobsson was traded from Melbourne to St Kilda during the 2020 Sign & Trade Period.
