Overview:
With both sides coming off a win last week, Sunday's match promises to be an engaging battle between two sides that play attractive, entertaining brands of football.

St Kilda and Richmond love taking the game on; both ranking in the top handful of teams for uncontested possessions (seventh and fifth respectively), disposal efficiency (fifth and third respectively) and running bounces (third and fifth respectively).

In recent years, clashes between these two sides have been promoted as 'Riewoldt v Riewoldt'. It will again be fascinating to see Nick and Jack compete in their respective forward lines; particularly because both are in such good form this season. Nick leads the league in marks this year, and ranks second in contested marks and marks inside 50. Jack is second in the Coleman medal race, having kicked 37 goals in 2013 - four more than cousin Nick.

Just three seasons ago, the Saints' longest ever winning streak against the Tigers - or any club, for that matter - was still alive. St Kilda defeated Richmond 13 times in a row between 2003 and 2010, before having to settle for a draw in 2011. More recently, the Tigers have had the wood over the Saints, taking the four points in round two this season and in their round 10 clash last year.

A week after St Kilda celebrated the milestones of Nick Riewoldt, Nick Dal Santo and Sean Dempster, another Saint will reach a milestone - with rebounding defender Dylan Roberton set to reach the 50-game mark. Roberton was given limited opportunities in Fremantle's senior side before moving to St Kilda this season, where he has played every match and taken his game to another level. Roberton is ranked seventh in the competition for rebound 50s, continuing to provide plenty of run and dare out of the Saints' backline this season.

St Kilda might be celebrating yet another milestone next week; forward Justin Koschitzke is set to play his 199th game against Richmond this weekend, and could reach the 200-game mark against Fremantle in round 15.

Stat focus:

  • Jack Steven and Trent Cotchin have been two of the competition's premier inside midfielders this season. Steven ranks 13th in the league for centre clearances and 15th in contested possessions. Cotchin ranks 17th in both areas.
  • Shaun Grigg has had the fourth-most uncontested possessions of any player this year.
  • Jack Steven and Leigh Montagna rank 15th and 16th respectively in total possessions in 2013.
  • As well as sitting atop the AFL goal-kicking table, Jack Riewoldt ranks seventh in the AFL for goal assists.
  • Richmond is statistically the worst-tackling side in the competition. St Kilda has laid the fifth-fewest tackles.
  • St Kilda has given away the most free kicks of any side this year. Richmond has given away the third-most.

What they say:
(Richmond midfielder Daniel Jackson on Tuesday)
"We saw (last) weekend that good teams can be beaten by teams they weren't expected to lose to, and we don't want that to be us. Hopefully we've overcome those days. We want to go in every week and put in our best effort like we have been and get the result accordingly."

What we say:
(St Kilda coach Scott Watters on Thursday)
"(Richmond) are a very talented side. It's a great challenge for our group, but we got the job done under pretty difficult circumstances last week, so the players are looking forward to playing."

Running hot:

St Kilda: Leigh Montagna
Montagna carved up the Demons last week, chalking up 35 possessions and nine marks in the Saints' win. The hard-running midfielder ranks ninth in the AFL for kicks so far this season, and was St Kilda's leading possession winner last time the Saints met the Tigers, in round two.

Richmond: Brett Deledio
The silky midfielder has been the Tigers' leading possession-winner in their last three matches - all of which have been wins. Deledio's run and carry is crucial to Richmond's success; he's taken the third most bounces of any player this year, and ranks eighth in the competition in inside 50s. Expect Clinton Jones to spend some time alongside him on Sunday.

Watch out for:

St Kilda: Terry Milera
The 25-year-old Saint had one of his best games for the club last week, playing higher up the ground than usual. Given both Richmond and St Kilda play attacking brands of football, Sunday's match might well suit Milera, who will be keen to utilise his pace and creativity to back up his 23-possession performance last weekend.

Richmond: Jack Riewoldt
Riewoldt has made a habit of kicking big bags of goals against the Saints in recent years. Putting aside the 2011 match when he was subbed out of the game with concussion early in the first quarter, Riewoldt has averaged a remarkable seven goals in his last four encounters with the Saints. James Gwilt may be given the job on 'jumping Jack', following his brilliant shut-down job on Chris Dawes last week.
