Another superhuman season from Jack Steele amid one of the competition's most turbulent periods has been rewarded with his second consecutive Therabody All-Australian blazer.

The decorated midfielder, who stamped himself as a premier midfielder of the competition following a superb 2020 campaign, was named in this year’s distinguished line-up on the interchange bench alongside Nic Naitanui, Darcy Parish and Touk Miller.

Steele now joins the likes of Robert Harvey, Nick Riewoldt, recent Australian Football Hall of Fame inductee Nathan Burke and many other Saints in receiving multiple All-Australian honours.

Tonight's distinction is likely to be the first in a string of accolades for the 25-year-old, who is likely to poll well at this year’s Trevor Barker Award and Brownlow Medal count.

Even with the red, white and black hitting several challenging patches throughout the season, the skipper's colours were rarely lowered.

Steele averaged a career-best 29 disposals, 14 contested possessions, eight tackles and six clearances throughout Season 2021 – all of which were ranked as elite – and topped the club in all key statistical metrics while simultaneously shouldering the many responsibilities as co-captain.

The two-time All-Australian also closed out the home-and-away season with the highest number of tackles in the league (185, just one short of the all-time record) and placed in the top-10 for total contested possessions (fourth), pressure acts (fifth), clearances (eighth) and disposals (tenth).

Half of Steele’s outings in 2021 finished with 30 disposals or more, with four of those matches yielding perfect a perfect 10 votes from the AFL Coaches Association.

Steele added to his night with a fourth-placed finish in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award (100 votes), just one vote behind the equal-second Marcus Bontempelli and Ollie Wines.
