Another link to our past has gone with the death of Irving Davidson at the age of 92.

Irving Davidson was recruited from Caulfield Grammar in 1951. At 185cm and 83kg, he was a strongly built defender who made his senior debut in Round 13 against North Melbourne.

He impressed as a half-back flanker in the closing six rounds and was recognised with the most improved player award.

He continued at half-back for the first four games of 1952 but lost his place and ended up having 11 games for the season.

There were eight further appearances in 1953 and just one late in 1954. His career total was 26 games and one goal. He late played for VFA club, Brighton.
