St Kilda have backed up its impressive start to the 2022 VBFL season with another strong performance over the Hawks as the club looks to defend its 2021 flag.

The Saints looked every part of their premiership selves, keeping the Hawks at bay on Saturday afternoon as they kept a comfortable lead to eventually run out as 50-point winners at Action Indoor Sports Stadium.

Skipper Shannon Jones led his side with three goals as he was given plenty of opportunities with Sean Brown and Lachlan Kosic working hard within the middle to get the ball into the forward-line.

Kadek Artayana was a brick wall down back as he kept the opposition forwards at bay alongside Ingrid McKennna and Kate Aarons.

The Saints will be sweating on the fitness of Aarons, who rolled her ankle and sat out the remainder of the game, after already having lost Steffan Nero and Ross Patterson before the bounce.

However, with a two-week break coming up for Jones’ side, St Kilda will be hoping that all three will be fit to take to the field.

The Saints will face the Bulldogs on Saturday, June 4th while the VWFL side will return to action this Sunday to face Essendon at Boroondara Sports Complex.
