Dan Butler has put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension, locking him in as a Saint until at least the end of 2024.

The small forward, who has been a consistent member of St Kilda’s forward structure after trading his sash for stripes during the 2019 Trade Period, agreed to terms last week then contributed in style on Sunday with a career-best five-goal bag against West Coast.

Butler has played 56 of a possible 59 games since joining the Saints and has kicked 63 goals in those appearances.

“We’re pleased to lock in Dan for at least the next two seasons,” Head of List Management James Gallagher said.

“Dan has been a staple of our forward line for the past few years and has proven his importance to the line-up across his time at the club.

His pressure acts and willingness to play an at-times sacrificial role for the greater good of the team is a real credit to Dan’s character.

“Dan’s a really respected and well-liked member of our playing group, and we look forward to seeing his positive influence continuing at our club over the next few years.”
