St Kilda will look to welcome back two versatile options this Saturday night, with Rene Caris and Darcy Guttridge both cleared and available for selection to face Carlton.
Meanwhile, the Saints’ midfield depth will continue to be tested, with Charlotte Simpson and Jaimee Lambert both set to watch from the sidelines this weekend.
Simpson was subbed off immediately after sustaining a heavy knock to the face minutes into the first quarter. The 21-year-old later entered concussion protocols after failing a HIA with medical staff.
Back-to-back best and fairest winner Lambert will also sit out this week as she continues to manage a minor calf issue. The star ball-winner is expected to return for the Saints in Round 10 as they take on North Melbourne in Tasmania.
“It’s never ideal to lose key players, but we’ve been impressed with the ability of others to step up to the challenge and meet the needs of the team,” GM AFLW Jessie Mulholland said.
“As we move into the latter end of the season our focus is on making calculated decisions to best manage the squad. Our medical and rehabilitation staff have been terrific as we navigate our injury load and players returning to play.
“Again, we’ll look to test the depth of our list as we consider the right mix to put our best foot forward against the Blues this week.”
In other rehab news, 2024 recruit Nicola Barr’s timeline has been set with the midfielder eyeing off a 2025 return after suffering a knee injury in the Round 8 win over GWS.
