The dual Brownlow Medallist is an essential part of the Saints 140 year history, having played 383 AFL games in the red, white and black over a record 21 seasons.
“Robert Harvey is fundamental to the history of this football club. He is one of the club’s all-time greats and for him to be honoured by the AFL with induction into the Hall of Fame is very special for Robert and also very much deserved,” St Kilda Football Club CEO Michael Nettlefold said.
“His legacy at this football club will never be forgotten.”
Harvey debuted for the Saints in 1988 and among his many accolades, is a four-time best and fairest winner, eight-time All-Australian and was chosen in St Kilda’s Team of the Century.
Harvey retired in 2008, later re-joining the Saints in 2011 as an assistant coach, before moving to Collingwood to pursue his coaching career.
“While Robert pursues his ambitions with a successful career in football, outside of his playing agenda, he and St Kilda Football Club are intrinsically linked in history forever.
The contribution he has made to this club is something that will always be celebrated.”
