St Kilda was outworked and overrun on Saturday afternoon as Sydney sent off four club stalwarts in style.

On an emotional day for the Swans, Buddy Franklin starred in his 300th, kicking four majors to end Season 2019 on a sour note for the red, white and black.

The Saints’ inaccurate start set the tone for the away side, with a 2.5 opening term return gifting the Swans a 21-point lead at the first break.

St Kilda's onballers managed to work their way on top just before the first break with Ross, Hannebery and Dunstan influential, before a much-improved second quarter with goals to Josh Bruce, Ben Long and Seb Ross saw the Saints draw level at half-time.

Brett Ratten's side began the third term like it finished the second and when Jack Steven nailed a set shot after Robbie Fox had turned the footy over in the centre of the ground, St Kilda led by a goal.

But the momentum shift was short-lived, as the Swans switched gears and rammed home 11 goals to two in a lopsided second half.

For the Saints, former Swan Dan Hannebery played one of his better games in red, white and black, while Seb Ross, Jack Steele, Luke Dunstan and Rowan Marshall were among their best.

St Kilda’s stinging second-half capitulation will be felt by the young group long into summer, as all eyes turn to a big pre-season at Moorabbin.

Young key forward Tom McCartin limped off early with a sore quad but after spending almost a quarter and a half on the bench, he came back on to play out the game.
