St Kilda Football Club congratulates legendary forward and former captain Nick Riewoldt, who this year will be one of four club greats inducted into the St Kilda Hall of Fame.
Riewoldt is one of the most iconic footballers to have walked through the doors at St Kilda, joining the club as the No.1 pick in the national draft in 2000 ahead of an illustrious 17-year career in the red, white and black.
The man affectionately known as 'Rooey' played 336 games for the Saints, with 220 of those games as captain, becoming the club's longest-serving leader in its history.
A six-time Trevor Barker Award winner and four-time leading goalkicker, Riewoldt finished with 718 career goals – 24th on the all-time goal-kicking tally.
Riewoldt’s first major personal accolade came in 2002, when he beat out other future superstars of the game such as Chris Judd, Luke Hodge and Shaun Burgoyne to win the Rising Star Award.
Riewoldt first assumed the captaincy at the age of 22, leading the club to three grand finals and two preliminary finals during his time in charge.
Riewoldt's accolades span beyond the four walls of Moorabbin, taking home the Leigh Matthews trophy for the AFLPA's Most Valuable Player in 2004, and being named in the All-Australian team five times between 2004 and 2014, including as captain in 2009 and vice-captain in 2014. He also holds the record for the most marks taken in V/AFL history and was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2025.
While his accolades and stats speak for themselves, Riewoldt forever endeared himself to the St Kilda faithful with his striking blonde hair, incredible aerial ability, and relentless work rate.
Moments such as his signature mark with the flight against Sydney in 2004 and his four-goal performance, including a last-gasp winner, against the Western Bulldogs in the 2009 Preliminary Final will live long in the memories of all Saints fans.
Riewoldt's entry will take place later this year, where for the first time the Hall of Fame Induction and Trevor Barker Award night will come together for one defining occasion on Monday 5 October.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks as the Saints’ remaining Hall of Inductees for 2026 are announced.
