St Kilda has come from 10 points down at the last change to triumph 9.14 (68) to 8.13 (61) over Carlton at a wet RSEA Park on Saturday.

After a challenging month of footy, the Saints needed to respond on the first of a triple-header of Saints action.

Down as much as 19-points, St Kilda came home hot, kicking five of the last six goals to pinch the victory. Charlie Banfield (17 disposals, 1 goal) was a standout performer and sealed the deal, kicking truly in front of the home fans.

Goals came at a premium, as Carlton were able to put early scoreboard pressure onto the hosts. Dan Butler (23 disposals, 3 clearances, 1 goal) was influential, highlighted with an unbelievable goal late in the second term to keep the Saints in the game at half-time.

Both outfits produced good entries despite the unfavourable conditions, however struggled to break the game beyond 20 points. Issac Keeler (7 disposals, 3 tackles, 2 goals) was prominent upfront despite the wet conditions and toiled hard all day.

Down back, the Saints’ defence held firm, with Alix Tauru (16 disposals, 7 marks) and skipper Billy McGee Galimberti (29 disposals, 8 marks) providing the heavy lifting in the midst of Carlton’s 54 inside 50s.

AFL-listed midfielder Jack Macrae (28 disposals, 9 tackles, 6 clearances) showcased his usual quality.

After suffering a narrow defeat against the Blues earlier this year, the Saints responded with a gritty win at RSEA Park.

Harry Dixon played his first game for the Saints, and had a great first outing for the club.
