Tributes flood in for Danny Frawley

The passing of Danny Frawley has united the AFL world, with an overwhelming amount of support and tributes coming in for the football icon.

By saints.com.au

I will miss you Spud. A giant of our club. A loyal legend through some of the Saints toughest days. A mate to so many. Thanks for all the amazing stories. My heart goes out to the Frawley family. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ pic.twitter.com/KL22UxMGZG

R.I.P mate. Still can’t believe it. ❤️

— David Armitage (@armo_20) September 9, 2019

At an event we hosted together earlier this year, Spud looked up at a photo of his daughters celebrating an Old Haileybury’s win.

He spoke emotionally & so sweetly about coaching his girls - he said they were his happiest moments as a footy coach.

Gorgeous man. Sad day.

— Neroli Meadows (@Neroli_M_FOX) September 9, 2019

Danny Frawley described himself as a simple spud farmer who'd made his way in the big smoke.

Of course, he was so much more than that.

Captain. Coach. Best and fairest. All-Australian. Legend of the game.

Tonight, we're thinking of Danny’s family, friends and fans. pic.twitter.com/tGVhatNPK5

— Dan Andrews (@DanielAndrewsMP) September 9, 2019

"He was as relevant to my kids through The Bounce this year, as he was as a footballer more than 20 years ago.

"He was a giant of our game."

R.I.P mate. You gave me my first opportunity to play AFL. You took a punt on me, when no one else did. You were so supportive and always there for me and my family. I’m forever grateful. Condolences to Anita, Chelsea, Keeley and Danielle. Gone way to soon. R.I.P Spud pic.twitter.com/wHPMjfYqvl

"It was rare a night when he didn’t leave you smiling. It was his gift and he shared it generously."

Spud a good country lad. Loved his story telling abilities, always made everyone laugh. Thinking of his family xx

I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Danny Frawley.A work colleague over the years and valued member of the All Australian selection committee. Wonderful player , captain, finals coach and much loved media performer. My grandkids loved the Golden Fist award on The Bounce. RIP Kb

Rest In Peace Spud. My thoughts and prayers are with his Family & friends at this time❤️

I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Danny Frawley. I had the privilege to play against him, work with him in the media and thoroughly enjoyed his company on the All Australian Committee. Much loved person with a big heart. RIP GR8 Man. GJ. pic.twitter.com/JD5qSLSxrS

Absolutely devastated about the tragic passing of Danny “Spud” Frawley. Growing up watching his tenacity & never give up attitude on the wet grounds at Ballarat was something I’ll never forget. Always a competitor but winning and losing didn’t change him. It defined him. RIP mate

— Michael McGuane (@MickMCG34) September 9, 2019

How do we make sense of the shock passing of Danny Frawley. A respected competitor, a loyal and ever supportive assistant but more importantly a bloody good bloke and friend. Thoughts are with Anita and the girls.
