VWFL vice-captain Ryan Smith has reigned supreme after taking out St Kilda’s best-and-fairest award at the VWFL End of Season Celebration.

The star Saint came out on top of the pile, with Judeland Antony and Christy Arulnesathasan rounding out the top-three.

Smith enjoyed a terrific 2019 campaign, racking up a competition-high 56 goals and earning a place in the VWFL Team of the Year.

The No. 23 came close to pulling off the perfect clean-sweep, missing out on winning the league best-and-fairest by a single vote.

Smith was a shining light amid a tough season for the Saints, who ended the season in fourth position on the ladder.

He played a vital hand in St Kilda’s two wins for the year against Hawthorn, securing 25 goals from the two encounters and allowing his side to retain the Blue Ribbon Cup in Round 10.

Boasting incredible power, skill and speed when rebounding out of defence, Smith led by example on the field week after week.

But it was off the field where he and the red, white and black also made their presence felt.

The Saints were great representatives in the community throughout the season and assisted in the coaching of SaintsPlay.

St Kilda will use the off-season to reset before they begin gearing up for Season 2020.
