St Kilda will proudly wear a special guernsey against Greater Western Sydney on Sunday, celebrating its partnership with Fiji as part of the AFL's Cultural Heritage Series - a league-wide initiative recognising the diverse cultural heritage of our fans, players, participants and communities across the game.
The Saints' Bula Guernsey is a design inspired by the rich storytelling traditions of Fijian Masi.
Masi is a traditional cloth crafted from the inner bark of the paper mulberry tree, present at life's most significant moments - weddings, births and funerals. Its bold geometric patterns, painted with natural dyes, have long served as a visual language of culture, identity and belonging.
Two distinct Masi patterns have been chosen to tell our shared story: Ibe (Mat) - symbolising the natural environment and the unique beauty shared between Fiji and Australia, and community - representing the bond between St Kilda Football Club, the Fijian community and the broader Australian community.
The club is honoured to celebrate this partnership, deepening the relationships it continues to build and sharing the rich Fijian culture on the AFL stage.
