With the 2016 NAB AFL Draft a matter of hours away, we give last year's batch of draftees one final moment in the sun before a new crop steal the limelight.

In the final edition of 'Draft Throwback', we take a look at the 2015 NAB AFL Draft - where the Saints selected a quick-footed gem, a do-it-all defender and a son of a gun.

Pick 18 – Jade Gresham, Northern Knights VIC

Trading pick five in the Carlisle deal, St Kilda’s list management team conducted some shrew business to remain in the first round. With pick 14 pushed back to 18, the Saints drafted the nibble-footed Jade Gresham. Averaging nearly 30 disposals for the Northern Knights, Gresham showed the ability to win ball on the inside and out. His skills were elite, winning the AFL Combine’s goal kicking test and scoring highly in the kicking and handball tests.

Pick 40 – Brandon White, Dandenong Stingrays (VIC)

Brandon White’s selection became one of the feel good stories of last year’s AFL Draft, when cameras caught the young defender overcome with happiness. Taken with the club’s second pick at 40, White provides versatility in defence – able to play on both tall and small forwards. Playing 13 games at TAC Cup, the 188cm defender averaged 15.3 disposals and possessed a booming left-foot.

Pick 49 – Bailey Rice, Dandenong Stingrays (VIC)

Son of former Saint Dean Rice, Bailey was eligible to play for both St Kilda and Carlton as a father/son. After training at Linen House Centre over the 18 months prior to the draft, Rice nominated the Saints and was taken in the third round. Averaging 21 disposals and five rebound 50s at TAC Cup level, the courageous Rice also featured at VFL level, more than holding his own for the Northern Blues.
