St Kilda Football Club has been awarded the 2018 highest-ranking overall score in the Pride in Sport Index (PSI) at the 2018 Australian Pride in Sport Awards.

Pride in Sport is a national not-for-profit program promoting the inclusion of the LGBTI community in Australian sporting organisations.

The Australian Pride in Sport Awards, hosted by Pride in Sport and sponsored by ACON (Aids Council of New South Wales), is the first event dedicated solely to recognising exceptional efforts in making sport more inclusive of LGBTI people.

The PSI, an initiative of the Australian Human Rights Commission and the Australian Sports Commission, has been specifically designed to assess the level of inclusion of LGBTI people within Australian sport.

The Saints ranked highest in the country on this scale, which assesses everything from strategies to accountability, staff policies to sanctions and reporting.

St Kilda’s tireless work to promote inclusivity of the LGBTI community was epitomised by the third annual Pride Game, which saw the club partner with Minus18, Australia’s largest LGBTIQ+ charity.

The game also saw a partnership with Carlton United Breweries, who donated $500 per goal kicked to charity organisation Pride Cup, resulting in a total donation of $13,000.

St Kilda Football Club will continue to promote inclusion and diversity in sport and strongly believes everyone should feel welcome at the footy.
