Last week:
Sandringham had the VFL bye. Footscray defeated Richmond by two points at the ME Bank Centre.
Players to watch:
Sandringham – Jason Holmes
Holmes has relished the number one ruck mantle this season and been influential in many of the Zebras’ wins. Before the bye he registered 60 hit outs and 14 disposals against Port Melbourne in a dominant display that will be needed against Footscray on Sunday.
Footscray – Ayce Cordy
Six goals and 46 hit outs highlight the importance of Cordy to Ashley Hansen’s side, given his ability in the ruck and as a key forward. The Western Bulldogs’ listed ruckman will be a key player for the Zebras to shut down.
Conditions:
Trevor Barker Beach Oval is a long ground with lots of space on the wings to be taken advantage of, particularly in perfect conditions. The weather is forecast to be a sunny 17 degrees.
