Cooper Sharman has entered concussion protocols after failing a HIA assessment during the final term of St Kilda’s game against Brisbane on Saturday afternoon.

The key forward is not expected to miss any AFL action, with this week’s bye likely to work in his favour.

Youngsters Tobie Travaglia (foot) and Charlie Banfield (shoulder) are both set for a stint on the sidelines after suffering injuries in round 1 of the VFL against the Giants.

“Tobie injured his foot in a tackling contest against GWS,” GM of Football, Lenny Hayes said.

“Positively, the injury is settling quickly, allowing him to commence rehabilitation. Medical staff will continue to monitor him closely as we work through a return to play timeline.

“Similarly, Charlie will now undergo a block of strength and stability rehabilitation on his shoulder.

Meanwhile, Max King has completed the final stages of rehabilitation, with the spearhead to now undergo a conditioning block to sure-up his return to play.

A trio of Saints midfielders are also closing in on a return, with Hunter Clark, Jack Macrae and Paddy Dow all nearing availability.

Clark will be required to get through Friday’s main training session to put his hand up for selection in St Kilda’s VFL side this week.
