THREE St Kilda players have been nominated for the AFL Players’ Most Valuable Player Award.
The presentation evening will be held on September 15 and will celebrate the best players in the game, voted on by the players.
Midfielders David Armitage and Jack Steven have been nominated for the coveted MVP award, alongside defender Sean Dempster.
Armitage enjoyed a breakout season, averaging 28.4 disposals per outing – including a career-high 45 touches against the Western Bulldogs in round six.
Steven, who missed large chunks of 2014 due to injury, returned to his best this year and laid more tackles than any other Saint. His form at Etihad Stadium was especially impressive, averaging 32 possessions from 11 games at the venue.
Dempster’s season was arguably his best yet. The 2012 All-Australian back pocket was eve reliable in defence and played his 200th match in round 19 against Fremantle.
The awards will be broadcast on Fox Footy at 8.30pm on Tuesday, September 15.
Nick Riewoldt was the AFL MVP winner in 2004.
