Since she was a little girl with the No. 7 on her back, Rhi Watt has been belting out ‘When the Saints Go Marching In’.

But never in her wildest dreams could she have imagined she’d be standing in the centre of RSEA Park and singing the song at the top of her lungs.

And not just as a diehard supporter, but as co-captain of the Saints’ AFLW side in their maiden triumph.

With the emotion coursing through her veins and the reality of the historic win starting to sink in, two, simple words summed it up best:

Pure joy.

- Rhi Watt

Watt notched up 16 hit-outs, 14 disposals and three marks in the Saints’ emotional victory, saving the day on multiple occasions with her saves right on the goal-line.

Her leadership as the last line of defence and as the red, white and black’s primary ruck were pivotal in willing the Saints over the line.

I can’t believe it.

I’ve been singing that song since I was a kid, and to be able to do it here at Moorabbin in front of so many people… mind-blowing, absolutely unreal.

It’s pretty special to do it with the Pride Game tonight, it means so much to so many of us, and it’s just so special.

You couldn’t write it any better, could you?
