The Saints met with New Zealand netball team the Central Pulse on Wednesday as part of their Wellington Community Camp when Lee swapped his beloved number nine guernsey with captain Katrina Grant for a bit of fun.
“It was actually quite comfy,” Lee joked about wearing the bright yellow body suit.
“It’s great to have a bit of banter with the girls and it was good to be able to share a few drills with them to show them our sport and vice versa.”
St Kilda players were put through their paces at the Pulse’s main training session, held in Porirua City, where they undertook handpass drills and tested out their defensive skills.
With Tom Lee switching sides the pressure was on him to rally the girls when they took on the kicking challenges against the Saints with a Sherrin on the court.
Both teams were put under the pump to represent their code, taking away some valuable lessons – not least the fact that wearing a skirt doesn’t lend itself well to kicking a footy!
The Pulse is in Melbourne this weekend taking part in a pre-season round-robin for the ANZ Championships. The team will play the Vixens in Wellington the day after St Kilda’s Anzac Day match on April 26.
