FARREN Ray enjoyed his most productive season since 2009, averaging 21.3 disposals per game and displaying a level of consistency that made him one of the Saints most reliable performers.

Ray spent the majority of the year on the wing and had an especially strong final two months, regularly collecting more than 20 touches and providing great drive and penetration into the forward 50.

His best game was against Hawthorn in round 20: the 27-year-old amassing 30 touches to win St Kilda’s Blue Ribbon medal.

Ray’s skill on the park is just part of his overall value to the football club, with his experience and knowledge now an important asset at St Kilda re-shapes its list with youngsters and stars of the future.

Midfield coach Dean Laidley:

“Farren has changed his game in the past 18 months. He’s become a better all-round player for us in this time and was an important member of our group. He played predominantly on the wing and at half-back this year and penetrated the game well with some high numbers.”
