SAINTS v TIGERS MATCH CENTRE: SCORES, STATS & MORE

In what marked the Saints’ first VFL home game at RSEA Park in over a decade, the occasion carried added significance for both the club and its supporters. A milestone moment, the long-awaited return created a special atmosphere as fans turned out to welcome the side back to its spiritual home.

Fuelled by that energy, St Kilda looked sharp early, bringing intensity at the contest and moving the ball with purpose. The Saints’ ability to control around the middle and apply forward pressure paid well on the scoreboard, as they built momentum across the first and second quarter.

By half-time, the Saints held a 12-point lead, having matched Richmond’s physicality and limiting their scoring opportunities through well-oiled defensive efforts.

However, the game took a quick turn after the main break with Richmond emerging with renewed intent, tightening up around stoppages and capitalising on its inside-50 entries.

Where the Saints had held firm, the Tigers began to find space and efficiency in attack, converting repeat forward entries into scoreboard pressure. A run of unanswered goals quickly turned the tide, with Richmond opening a 22-point lead heading into the final quarter.

Richmond’s dominance inside 50 continued to prove the difference, as it controlled the forward line and punished any defensive gaps. While the Saints continued to put up a fight until the final siren, Richmond’s composure and clean finishes ensured they ran out convincing winners by 33 points.
