Jamie Cripps here guys,
This is the third blog I have written for the Saints website. Have a read and find out what we've been up to!
Monday
Following the game on Sunday I was down at the Club in the morning for injury clinic. It was a tough game against the Hawks and I pulled up quite sore, but after some work in the freezing cold ice baths the aches and pains started to diminish.
In the afternoon I had an appointment with my diabetes specialist. I catch up with him every 3 months and we have a chat about how I am handling everything. He took some of my blood to take a look at my sugar levels and averages. I’m still getting used to having diabetes, but I’m managing the condition well.
Tuesday
Tuesday morning we did some more recovery and flush runs. It’s really important to get the body properly right before the week ahead. We then had training and the feeling was really good amongst the group.
Wednesday
In the morning we were in looking at vision from the weekend’s game. We then went straight into the AFL review, outlining areas that we didn’t perform in and looking at ways to improve. These reviews are always very comprehensive and are important in the team’s continual development.
After the review we had the afternoon off, so it was great to have some time to relax and chill out.
Thursday
I was in at the Club early for weights and physio. In the afternoon we had a meeting ahead of our main training session where we discuss the areas that we want to work on ahead of the weekend’s game. It was a lengthy session and we didn’t finish up until just before 6pm, but the feeling around the group was fantastic.
Friday
Today we had the day off, but I had some more physio ahead of tomorrow’s game against Melbourne. With the rest of the day off I took the opportunity to catch up with a couple of my mates who were over from Western Australia. It’s always great to catch up with mates from home when you get the opportunity; Melbourne is a long way from home so I don’t get to see them all that often.
Weekend
Ahead of tomorrow’s game I will go through my normal preparation process. I always eat plenty of carbohydrates ahead of the game and try to stay as relaxed as possible. It’s a really important game for us and everyone is really positive. Nick Winmar will make his debut for the Saints, which he really deserves after showing some great form for Sandringham this year.
On Sunday the rest of the playing group and me will be down at Seaford Park for the Auskick Superclinic which should be great fun, so hopefully I see some of you down there!
Thanks for reading my blog,
Go Saints!
