St Kilda Football Club has roared past another significant member milestone, recently surpassing the 42,000 mark.
After celebrating reaching 40,000 for the first time in the club’s history in May, the club’s membership tally has continued to break records prior to the AFL’s July 31 deadline.
The Saints reached 42,052 before the cut-off, up over 10% from last year’s total of 38,009.
While retention remained strong the Saints also registered a new club record in the acquisition of new members.
St Kilda CEO Matt Finnis said the continued support from members was spectacular.
"We value each and every member and understand that they are a key part of the fabric of the club,” Finnis said.
“It really means a lot to us to have people signing up at this point in the season. It exemplifies such commitment to the club.
"Our players know that when they take to the field, they're representing all 42,000 of our members and it's not a fact they take lightly.
"We hope that both on and off the field we can continue to work hard to make our people proud.
“I thank everyone who has signed up this year and hope to see them cheering on the boys for the rest of the season.”
General Manager of Customer, People and Performance Emmeline McIllree said with the final St Kilda home game in Round 22 against North Melbourne shaping up as a hugely important one, is it recommended fans secure their seat early.
“I would encourage all general admission members to consider upgrading to a reserved seat membership,” McIllree said.
“As well as the importance this game holds to our finals chances, it will also be Nick Riewoldt’s final home and away game at Etihad Stadium, so we’ll be pulling out all the stops to honour him in a manner befitting the champion he is.”
