Jarryn Geary and Dan Hannebery will spend additional time on the sidelines after suffering respective injury setbacks in the lead-up to Round 4.

The co-captain will require surgery to clear scar tissue from his injured left leg after experiencing pain in the back of his ankle during the week.

The operation will extend his rehabilitation by two to three weeks.

Meanwhile, scans have confirmed a low-grade right calf strain for Hannebery.

The 30-year-old will spend four weeks in recovery before returning to the main group.

Both setbacks to Geary and Hannebery are separate from their previous injuries.

“It’s disappointing to see Jarryn and Dan have their time on the sidelines extended,” Chief Operating Officer Simon Lethlean said.

Dan is more frustrated than anyone after suffering repeat setbacks, but he is fully committed and focused on bouncing back in the coming weeks.

“Jarryn will undergo routine surgery and we expect him to be up and running in just over a fortnight.

“Both players have been incredibly diligent in their rehabilitation and have the full support of the club.

“We will ensure we are doing everything possible to get them out on the field as soon as possible.”

The news comes following a season-ending Achilles injury to Jade Gresham.
