Jack Bytel has been ruled out of Friday night’s match against Richmond after suffering a concussion during yesterday’s training session.
The young midfielder received a head knock during a regulation training drill at RSEA Park and will now observe the AFL’s mandated 12-day concussion protocol.
Bytel joins 12 other Saints on the current injury list, including co-captain Jarryn Geary who underwent right shoulder surgery yesterday afternoon.
In other injury news, Rowan Marshall is pressing towards a senior return against Richmond this Friday night.
Marshall was last seen in Round 9 against Geelong after the decision was made to operate on his ongoing plantar fascia issue.
The same injury kept the 25-year-old on the sidelines for four of the opening five games this season.
Zak Jones is also progressing well from his quad rupture and is eyeing off a return within two to three weeks, while James Frawley (shoulder), Daniel McKenzie (calf), Dean Kent (concussion) and Shaun McKernan (toe) will be assessed this week.
