Daniel McKenzie and Tom Highmore remain in Victoria after suffering respective concussion and hand injuries during Saturday's match against Port Adelaide.

Scans on Saturday evening confirmed Highmore suffered a break in his left hand following an incident in the first quarter.

The 23-year-old will undergo surgery today and will be monitored with a chance of returning in the coming weeks. 

McKenzie, meanwhile, was subbed out of Round 18 with concussion after a desperate tackle on Port Adelaide’s Mitch Georgiades went awry.

He is currently being assessed back in Melbourne and will undergo the mandatory concussion protocols, ruling him out for this week’s match against West Coast.

St Kilda players, coaches and staff departed Victoria immediately after Saturday's game in anticipation of its upcoming fixture with the Eagles at Optus Stadium.

“It’s disappointing to not have Tom and Dan join us in Western Australia, but obviously given the circumstances they will be required to stay in Victoria,” Chief Operating Officer Simon Lethlean said.

“We expect both players to be available for selection in the short-term and we’re confident we have the personnel to replace them in the line-up ahead of this week’s game against West Coast.”

Nick Coffield, Oscar Clavarino, James Frawley, Matthew Allison and mid-season recruit Cooper Sharman joined the Saints’ travelling party west along with Round 18 emergencies Jack Lonie, Jack Bytel and Paul Hunter.

Co-captain Jarryn Geary, Hunter Clark, Dan Hannebery, Jade Gresham, Jack Higgins, Josh Battle, Mason Wood, Jake Carlisle, Darragh Joyce, Sam Alabakis and Max Heath remain in Victoria alongside McKenzie and Highmore.

The club will undertake a seven-day quarantine under strict Western Australian State Government restrictions before its Round 19 fixture next Saturday night.
