'We want to go further': Wilkie on what's to come in 2021
Callum Wilkie spoke to STK Media after our last game of the 2020 season.
The former accountant traded in his suit and tie for the red, white and black after being snapped up as a rookie selection, before incredibly going on to cement himslef as a core member of the Saints' back six.
Wilkie etched himself into the history books to the first Saint in 24 years to play every game in his debut season, and capped off his stellar campaign with a top-10 finish in the 2019 Trevor Barker Award.
While a great deal has changed as the Saints enter a new era under Brett Ratten in 2020, the mature-age recruit's unwavering output and consistency has remained steadfast.
Wilkie – or 'Mr Reliable' according to Ratten – is yet to miss a game and has entrenched himself as a core member of the remodelled defence.
The sensational pick-up's lethally accurate kicking has remained a hallmark of his game, with the 24-year-old leading the club for his elite disposal efficiency (90 per cent) and effective kicks (77).
Wilkie's best game arguably came against the Western Bulldogs in the season restart (18 disposals, eight intercepts, six rebounds), but his freakish dependability and no-fuss attitude always has him among the club's best by the final siren.
Wilkie was selected by St Kilda with pick No. 3 in the 2018 Rookie Draft.
