The former college basketballer was first identified by midfield coach Adam Skrobalak as a potential ruck prospect, before being signed to St Kilda as a Category B rookie ahead of Season 2019.

Alabakis developed his game for the Frankston Dolphins in the VFL, lining up for a handful of matches before injury saw him move to the sidelines.

Season 2020 has seen 'Big Sal' form part of St Kilda's forward line at reserves level, alongside his rucking duties.

The unlikley goalkicker jagged a runaway major in the Saints' come-from-behind win over Collingwood earlier in the year, with the big man's efforts in the dying minutes proving to be the match-winner.
