For a time, it seemed the closest Tyanna Smith would get to making it onto a footy field was running through a West Coast banner when she was just eight years old.
Fast-forward almost a decade, and the top-10 draftee made waves as part of St Kilda’s lively midfield brigade.
Lightning-quick underfoot, agile through traffic and able to split packs with ease, Smith boasted all the right attributes to become an important cornerstone of the Saints’ future.
The No. 6. made her electric debut in Round 1 against the Western Bulldogs, collecting 16 disposals and a goal in the heart-racing triumph in the heartland, before carrying on her electrifying season with a Rising Star nomination in Round 4.
Smith closed out her debut season as runner-up in the club's Best & Fairest award, second only to Georgia Patrikios.
Smith was selected with pick. No. 6 in the 2020 Women’s Draft.
