St Kilda vice-captain Tyanna Smith has been selected to represent the green and gold in the 2026 NAB AFLW Australia v Ireland match, set to be played at North Sydney Oval on Saturday, 1 August.
Fresh off a maiden Saints Best and Fairest-winning season, Smith will line up alongside some of the AFLW's biggest stars as Australia takes on Ireland in a historic showcase of women's football.
2025 saw the silky midfielder produce a career-best campaign in her fifth year in the league, playing a pivotal role in the Saints' first finals appearance while also being named in the All-Australian squad for the first time.
Smith said she was lost for words when Senior Coach Nick Dal Santo and General Manager AFLW Jessie Mulholland delivered the news.
"It's an incredible honour and something I honestly wasn't expecting," Smith said.
"To be recognised alongside so many players I've admired and played against over the years is really special."
"The fact it's the first one makes it even more exciting. I'm really grateful for the opportunity and can't wait to pull on the Aussie jumper."
"We're thrilled to see Tyanna selected for this historic match," GM of AFLW Jessie Mulholland said.
"She'll proudly represent both Australia and St Kilda, and we couldn't be happier for her. It's a fantastic recognition of the work she's put in over a number of years.
"Tyanna is a humble, team-first person who lets her football do the talking. She's incredibly deserving of this opportunity and we can't wait to see her showcase her talent on the national stage."
