WHAT’S ON? 

Blue Ribbon Cup 

This Thursday Night against the Hawks we play for the 27th annual Blue Ribbon Cup, paying tribute to all the Victoria Police members who have fallen in the line of duty and acknowledging those who have served, and continue to serve.  

Established in 1999, The Blue-Ribbon Cup commemorates the life and service of Victoria Police officers Sergeant Gary Silk, and Senior Constable Rodney Miller who were killed in the line of duty at Moorabbin on the 16th of August 1998.   

At the conclusion of the game there will be a short presentation where players from each team will receive a commemorative Blue Ribbon Medal. One player from each club (voted as best on) will also be awarded with the SilkMiller Memorial Medal. Following this, the winning team will be presented with the Blue Ribbon Cup.

🚗 Driving? 

Limited parking is available at Marvel Stadium and patrons are encouraged to book as early as possible for events. To pre-book parking, click here.  

Enter via car park entrances on Bourke Street (A & B) and Wurundjeri Way (D & E). Please note, the car park has a height restriction of 2.1 metres. For car parking enquiries, please contact Marvel Stadium’s Parking Services team via email or (03) 8625 7201. 

Road disruptions: 

• Elder Street, Greensborough closed in both directions between Greensborough Highway and Frensham Road from 9pm, Friday 8 May to 5am, Monday 1 June.  

• No right turn from Clyde Road, Berwick onto Princes Freeway citybound entry ramp until late 2026.  

• Bus route 514 will take an alternate route between Watsonia Station and Greensborough Station from 9pm, Friday 8 May to 5am, Wednesday 3 June.  

🚆Catching the train? 

Southern Cross Station is next to Marvel Stadium and is connected to most metropolitan and regional train lines. The stadium is a short walk from the station across the Bourke Street pedestrian bridge. 

Getting to Marvel from the new Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sunbury Line 

The Metro Tunnel connects the new Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sunbury Line from Cranbourne and Pakenham in the southeast to Sunbury in the northwest. Passengers will need to change trains as the new line doesn’t travel via Southern Cross Station. 

Travel options from the southeast: 

• Transfer at Town Hall Station to Flinders Street Station for trains to Southern Cross Station ​ 

• ​Change at Town Hall Station to trams on Collins Street (route 11, 12, 48 or 109) or Flinders Street (route 35, 75 or 70) towards Southern Cross Station​ 

From the northwest: 

• Change at Footscray to the Werribee or Williamstown lines 

• Or transfer at State Library Station to Melbourne Central for trains to Southern Cross​ Station 

• ​Or change at State Library Station to the Route 30 tram on La Trobe Street

🚌 Catching the Bus? 

The bus terminus is at Southern Cross Train Station and services airport transfers as well as routes across country Victoria. Marvel Stadium is a short walk across the Bourke Street pedestrian footbridge from the bus terminus. Plan your journey. 

🚕 Taking a Rideshare or getting Dropped-off? 

A taxi rank is available on Bourke Street (opposite Platform 28 restaurant) and on La Trobe Street (near Peppers' Apartments).

SAINTS MERCHANDISE 

Join us at the internal merchandise kiosk inside Gate 5, near Bays 36 & 37, where you can redeem your member voucher for a scarf, cap or beanie. This round will be our final matchday redemption opportunity for the 2026 season. Please note member scarves are limited, so we recommend arriving early to avoid missing out, or contacting us during the week to reserve yours in advance.  

You can also redeem your voucher online via Saints Locker or visit us in person at Saints Locker Moorabbin. St Kilda staff will be available at the Gate 5 kiosk, facing the ground, from 5:45pm until the first bounce at 7:30pm. 

Official St Kilda merchandise will also be available to purchase from the Marvel Superstore and all other marked outlets around the stadium. 

NOT EVEN a six-goal third quarter could save St Kilda from its diabolical first half, as Hawthorn notched up its eighth-straight victory at Marvel Stadium.

The Saints couldn't buy a goal in the opening half and the Hawks feasted on the turnovers they gave up, which set up the 18.11 (119) to 9.13 (67) win on Thursday evening.

Put simply, it was an ugly start. Both sides struggled to hit the ball sweetly, and dropped marks were common early in the piece. It meant a turnover-heavy first quarter in which the only real star was Jack Gunston.

The returning veteran kicked the opening two goals of the game, exploiting the space and time his opposition afforded.

Hawthorn saw an opportunity to stretch the Saints' backline throughout the match, and took it. Already with Gunston (five goals), Mitch Lewis (three), and Mabior Chol (two) as tall targets in attack, the work rate of ruck duo Ned Reeves and Lloyd Meek to press forward and further impose height inside 50 was impressive.

By the final term, when the Hawks felt comfortable that the four points were won, Gunston rode the bench and defender Blake Hardwick (four goals) switched to attack to reprise his impressive goalkicking role of last week.

The speed with which the Hawks were able to transition forward then left the Saints all at sea. But once some pressure began to be applied up the field, creating some turnovers or slower movement, St Kilda's defence became increasingly organised.

After their horror opening half, it didn't take long for the Saints to finally break through, by an unexpected hero no less. Former Carlton key defender Jack Silvagni (three goals, 10 marks) was swung forward to add some sort of presence inside 50, and took an early mark and – importantly – kicked truly.

Another new face, Tom De Koning landed the second major three minutes later, and finally some positive momentum started to build for St Kilda.

Once the floodgates opened, fast footy was on the menu. Pinging out of centre stoppage and toward each attacking 50, the Stains started to find some genuine marking targets in dangerous positions. Youngster Alix Tauru and ruck Rowan Marshall started to become genuine options ahead of the play.

Meanwhile, Hawthorn was forced to scrap close to goal. No longer were neat leading channels easily available, instead the grunt work at contest was the side's avenue to goal.

This is where Nick Watson (21 disposals, two goals) was able to shine.

There was a palpable sense of excitement through the crowd knowing that much-loved Hawk Will Day (18 disposals, five clearances) was making his return. After a start on the bench, he received a round of warm applause when first taking to the field, and with every possession after that.
