St Kilda’s summer of footy for Season 2022 has been all but locked in, with the opening nine rounds of the 2022 NAB AFLW Season confirmed today.

Nick Dal Santo’s side will host the season opener against Richmond on Friday 7 January at SkyBus Stadium; one of the club’s temporary home while RSEA Park, Moorabbin undergoes a multi-million dollar turf redevelopment.

The Saints will also call Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval home in Round 4 for its match against West Coast, but could potentially be back at RSEA Park as early as Round 6 for a Friday night bout with Brisbane.

St Kilda’s opening three matches against Richmond, Collingwood and Melbourne will be broadcast live and free on Channel 7.

At least seven of the club’s 10 games will be played in Victoria, with two interstate trips to face GWS and Gold Coast on the cards for Rounds 5 and 8 respectively.

“It’s incredibly exciting to have our campaign mapped out ahead of Season 2022,” Head of AFLW Tessie McManus said.

Kicking off the 2022 NAB AFLW Season against Richmond under lights at SkyBus Stadium on a Friday night is a massive occasion, which will hopefully launch our season on the right note.

- Tessie McManus

“While we are unable to play at RSEA Park in the opening stages of the year, we’re excited to bring the red, white and black further across Melbourne’s south with matches to be played at SkyBus Stadium and Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval.

“We’ve putting in the hard work over the past few months and are fiercely determined to make an impact next year.

“We’re thrilled to return to the field in just a few short weeks and can’t wait to see as many Saints members and supporters cheering us on in 2022.”

The 2022 NAB AFLW Season will feature a 10-round season, along with a three-week finals series, for the first time in its six-year history.

The AFLW’s Pride Round will be held across Round 3, Indigenous Round in Round 8, while Round 10 of the 2022 AFLW Season will be announced separately in the coming days.
