Tom Highmore

21 disposals, 12 marks, 11 rebound-50s

Tom played a really strong defender's game. He played as a big man and took eight intercept marks, four of them contested, and has been doing a lot of work on that and it's coming to the fore. The boys were under the pump, but he stood up for majority of the game. A couple of decision with ball in hand let him down, especially at real critical times of the game where the Suns had a little bit more momentum, but all in all he should be pretty pleased with his performance. His last two games have been solid which should kickstart him going forward. The change of role he's adapted to really well and he's getting good feedback from his peers.

Cooper Sharman

22 disposals, eight rebound-50s, seven marks

It was Sharmo's second week as a genuine winger. His running power has really shown through, especially in the second half on Sunday where it was tough conditions, but his ability to get up and down the ground for us all day was really pleasing. He connects well defensively, sometimes he can get a bit too defensive, gives up good positioning and then struggles to get back and equalise ahead of the ball, but it's a good problem to have because it shows he's working his butt off. His ball use and decision-making is great and that's why we want him on the wing.

Tom Campbell

27 hit-outs, 13 disposals, five clearances

Tommy fought really hard. He probably didn't perform as well as he would have liked playing against a couple of undersized rucks relative to him. It was a good mental game for him where not everything went right. He played on (Chris) Burgess who was a body up and then (Mabior) Chol who ran and jumped, so it was good for him to have to flip the switch and play on different types of rucks. There's some room for improvement with decisions and running patterns around the ground, but all in all the boys love playing with him.

Leo Connolly

20 disposals, five inside-50s, four clearances

Leo had a good mix of contested and uncontested possessions which you need as a mid. Five inside-50s is what we want him doing for us as well and he's starting to progress as a mid, so it's something we'll keep persisting with because he's got some good traits. He's been improving his stoppage position and bodywork as well which has been really good to see.

Jack Peris

13 disposals, five tackles, three inside-50s

It was another Jack Peris game. Not the impact on the scoreboard that he's had previously, but five tackles and multiple chase-and-harass efforts stood out. He had 14 possessions and 10 of them were contested, so we've got to make sure he's getting some sort of outside ball as well with his elite running power, but he connects really well defensively for us and we know how hard he can attack for us. Again, not an easy day for small forwards, but he competed really well.

Oscar Adams

12 disposals, four rebound-50s, three marks

Oscar's put two together really strongly now. He seems to be really clear and making strong decisions and he's been putting in the extra work throughout the week with the other key backs. Oscar's allowed himself to at least halve aerial contests and he's starting to win a few as well and get the ball back for us. He's never going to be a high-possession player, but that doesn't matter as a key back. We're making sure he's playing to his strengths. He's got a good run and jump and is looking really strong over the contest, so that's something he's bought into over the last couple of weeks.

Max Heath

Seven disposals, seven tackles, two marks

It was never going to be a day for key forwards. It was very windy, a bit slippery, the ball went under as well and he potentially went into the game with the mindset that he wanted to dominate like he did last week. The process for Max of ruckwork, follow-up, getting to long-down-the-line contests, that's really important stuff for us so we'll keep reminding him that's what we rate his games on. There was a little bit of frustration with the ball not coming in how he wanted, but it's footy - you've got to learn to deal with crap kicks and make it work somehow. This week was a better learning game for Max even so than last week, and I reckon he's going to want to improve based on that.

James Van Es

Four disposals, two marks

Not as much impact this week for Jimmy. Sometimes games don't allow you to if it goes to different teammates or the ball's on the other side of the ground, and that was just one of those days for him. There were a couple of times where he had aerial contests and chose not to fly with his opponents, so we're just imploring him to try and get to as many contests and throw his big frame as much as he can. He had some good contests on Chol and Day who are some really good AFL-standard forwards, so it was a good learning day for him.
