Rebecca Ott has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2023 AFLW Season as she continues her recovery from an Achilles setback.

Despite there being hope of a comeback only a few weeks ago, the decision was made to give the key defender more time to sufficiently recover from the injury.

“It’s disappointing news for Bec, but we are confident she will do everything required to put together a strong campaign next year,” General Manager of AFLW Tessie McManus said.

“We have had a number of discussions regarding Bec over the past few weeks, and in the interest of her long-term health, have opted to take a conservative approach to her Achilles rehab.

Bec has been terrific in her rehab to-date and know she will continue this approach over the coming weeks.

“It is a complex injury which has changed from week-to-week and delayed her expected return time as a result, but we believe by giving Bec additional time to heal it will be far better for her and the team in the long run.”

In other injury news, J’Noemi Anderson will be available for selection this weekend after missing the Saints’ past two matches as she recovers from concussion symptoms.
