Jack Hayes will be sidelined for at least six weeks, with the 28-year-old undergoing knee surgery today to address persistent swelling.

“Every time Jack trained or played, his knee would swell, requiring fluid to be drained,” EGM Football David Misson said.

“To correct the problem, and following consultation with Jack and his specialists, we’ve elected for him to have surgery now.

While this will require a portion of rehab, it will hopefully see Jack back playing before the end of the season and also nullify the issue moving forward.

Hayes will be joined on the sidelines by Zaine Cordy, who is anticipated to miss 1-3 weeks with his own knee concern.

“Zaine hyperextended his knee in the VFL on the weekend, so he’ll need some time to rest and recover.”
