VFL Senior Coach Brendon Goddard provides an update on the AFL-listed players that represented Sandringham against Gold Coast on Sunday.

VFL Match Centre: Round 9 v Gold Coast

ZEBRAS 2.0 7.2 8.4 11.6 (72)
SUNS
3.3 6.5 7.9 10.12 (72)

Jack Carroll

28 disposals, eight tackles, six clearances, two goals

Had a really good game against the Suns. His clearance work and pressure around the contest was really strong. His highlights came in the form of his two goals, one being the obvious goal after the siren to tie the game.

Hugo Garcia

27 disposals, 10 tackles, nine clearances, six inside 50s, one goal

Played inside mid and had another strong game. His impact around clearances and ability to win the ball was impressive as well as kicking a great goal.

Max Heath

18 disposals, four contested marks, seven tackles, one goal

Had another strong performance and had a good battle against Ned Moyle. Was instrumental in the last five minutes to help us get a result and was a strong performer in the air in particular throughout the day.

Harry Boyd

14 disposals, 30 hitouts, six tackles, six clearances, six inside 50's

Making a strong duo with Heath in the ruck and performed well again on Sunday. Started forward and gave us a contest and then impacted around stoppages with his ability to win hitouts and give us first use.

Dan Butler

15 disposals, 10 tackles, three tackles inside 50, one goal

Been a frustrating year on the injury front so far but put in a strong outing, laying 10 tackles as a small forward. We put him on the ball in the last few minutes and had a few crucial possessions which had a big impact on the result.

Arie Schoenmaker

18 disposals, four marks, three intercepts

It was a good effort mentally and physically to get through the game as he was sick during the week. Had an impact with his kicking ability from full back and set us up from defence.

Liam Henry

17 disposals, five clearances, four inside 50s

Was a pleasing performance from Liam with his ability to move and to get to contests throughout the game. Good to see him get some continuity with his footy after a long period of injury and is coming in to some form.

Angus McLennan

12 disposals, six marks, five intercepts

A solid contributor in his all round game. Played a role on Alex Sexton after half time and we thought he minimised his impact well to help us get a result.

Lance Collard

Seven disposals, four tackles, three score involvements

Saw some flashes of what he is capable of. Had a great run-down tackle and had a couple of shots on goal that he’d usually kick, but worked hard as a high half forward.

James Barrat

Nine disposals, seven marks, seven intercepts

Was probably his most consistent performance in the VFL this season. He has made some good in-roads in his defensive craft and is producing some sound ball use.

Alex Dodson

Six disposals, four hitouts, one goal

Had a frustrating day compared to last week but was still able to start the game pretty well with his ability to contest in the air but copped a few knocks through the game that hampered him.

Patrick Said

Five disposals, two intercepts

Played a bit of a different role this week up on the wing as we’ve identified his ability to move up and down the field. He was able to hold his width and provide us structure which was pleasing.
