The mid-season bye comes at a timely point for the Saints, who will look to regain strength through the return of Jack Macrae and Liam Stocker post break.

Both key contributors to the side before their respective injuries, Macrae and Stocker will eye a potential Round 14 return, with the pair required to get through main training early next week to prove their fitness going into the Thursday night clash against the Western Bulldogs.

Mattaes Phillipou was subbed off early in the first quarter on Sunday after aggravating a low-grade calf injury. The 20-year-old’s availability for the Western Bulldogs game will be reassessed following the bye.

“It’s a small muscle in the lower calf which was classified on the lower side post-game,” EGM Football David Misson said.

“We’ll let it settle over the next few days and reassess once he’s back on the track post break.”

Additionally, Paddy Dow has reached another milestone in his recovery with the midfielder making a return to full training. Meanwhile, key defender, Zaine Cordy has commenced non-contact training as he continues to strengthen his pec.
