Olivia Vesely has become the latest Saint to join St Kilda’s inaugural AFLW side.
The 19-year-old was elevated from the Southern Saints VFLW list in a surprise announcement on Monday, following the official unveiling of RSEA Park’s state-of-the-art women’s facilities.
Vesely becomes the 18th member of St Kilda’s women’s side, which will enter the AFLW competition in 2020.
A spur-of-the-moment decision to participate in a combine in 2017 kickstarted her football journey, with the young talent showing her prowess from the get-go.
The half-forward/midfielder won Sandringham Dragons’ inaugural TAC Cup Girls Best and Fairest in her debut season (2017), before playing for Carlton’s VFLW side the following year.
Vesley joined the Southern Saints this season alongside Saint Kate Shierlaw, who was signed earlier in the week in front of friends and family.

From her 10 games for the Southern Saints, Vesely has averaged 16 disposals and four goals per game, and even booted the match-winning goal against Essendon in the game’s final moments.
St Kilda can sign another four open-age players and three rookies before the cut-off date of August 30.
