The Saints' injury list has taken a blow, with breakout midfielder Ash Richards ruled out of the 2025 AFLW season.
Richards was subbed off in the last quarter, with post-match scans revealing the 21-year-old had suffered a broken ankle requiring surgery.
“It’s very disappointing news for Ash and the club to suffer such a significant injury halfway through the season,” GM Jessie Mulholland said.
“Ash has the support of the entire club behind her as she heads into this next chapter of recovery and rehab, which we know she’ll tackle with the same determination and grit she’s shown on field each week.”
Meanwhile, ruck Rene Caris is set to miss this weekend’s trip to Sydney after breaking a finger in Sunday’s win at Moorabbin.
“Unfortunately, Rene’s finger will require surgery which will see her miss at least this weekend,” Mulholland said.
“On the flip side, it’s an exciting time as we look to test the depth of our list with some prepared and healthy players ready to step up to the challenge.”
Positively, 2024 recruit Alana Gee has been declared available after completing her recovery from an ACL tear sustained at the start of her 2023 campaign with the Suns.
“A very promising time for Alana and the club,” Mulholland said.
“We’re so proud of how she’s handled the back half of her recovery since her arrival at Moorabbin this year, and can’t wait to see Alana bring her strengths back to the field.”
The Saints will continue their march towards a fourth win in a row this weekend as they fly to Sydney to take on GWS this Saturday, 1.05pm at Henson Park.
