Gresham back to brilliant best

RD 10 | Jade Gresham post-match Jade Gresham spoke to SAINTS.com.au post our round 10 win over Carlton at Marvel Stadium.

The fans have spoken, and Jade Gresham has been voted the Round 10 Dare Iced Coffee Sainter of the Round.

Over 1500 Saints fans had their say in the fan-voted award, with over 50% of voters backing the newly re-signed Saint for best-on-ground.

On an historic day for the St Kilda Football Club – which saw four indigenous Saints run out together for the first time in 146 years – Gresham was back to his brilliant best.

The 21-year-old was electric from the outset, winning all four of St Kilda’s centre clearances in the opening term and showcasing his creativity and class with the ball.

Gresham amassed a career-high disposal haul of 29 touches – the most of any player on the ground – but perhaps even more impressive was his ability to win his own ball.

An equal career-high 12 contested possessions helped hand the Saints the ascendancy in the middle, while his seven score involvements piled more pressure on the Blues.

Taking home the two votes was midfield bull Jack Steele, who played out yet another enticing encounter against Carlton jet Patrick Cripps.

With 28 touches apiece, the Saints’ enforcer arguably took the chocolates on Sunday, amassing 10 tackles, nine contested possessions and a game-high nine score involvements.

Tim Membrey rounds out the voting this week after his solid performance up front.

The 24-year-old provided a reliable option up front all day, booting two goals and clunking a game-high five contested marks.

St Kilda travels to China this week to face Port Adelaide in Shanghai on Sunday 2 June.
