St Kilda Football Club President Andrew Bassat has announced the members of a coaching selection sub-committee, which was finalised at meeting of the club’s board last night.

Chaired by the President, the sub-committee will oversee the recruitment process which will begin immediately.

The committee includes Saints Football Director Dean Anderson, CEO Matt Finnis and General Manager of Football Simon Lethlean, along with the AFL’s Head of Coaching David Rath.

It will also draw upon appropriately qualified people with coaching, playing and psychology expertise as required throughout the recruitment process.

Before joining the AFL in 2018 and overseeing the level four coaching program, Rath was a key member of Hawthorn’s football department for more than 13 years.

“David is highly respected across the industry and offers a unique insight given the leadership role he plays in shaping the current coaching landscape in the AFL,” Bassat said.

“His inclusion, alongside the experienced members of our board and executive, gives us a good balance to begin the search for the next senior coach of St Kilda.

“Importantly, we feel we have the right people in place to oversee the recruitment of a coach who can drive us towards a second premiership.

“The committee will meet in the coming days to finalise its selection criteria and remains committed to a rigorous process and an open mind to potential candidates.”
