1: First win of the season
After eight consecutive losses this season, the Saints triumphed in what was a see-sawing affair against the Pies on Saturday. St Kilda trailed by 12 points at the main change, however, were able to find their rhythm by striking four majors in the third term that gave the Saints a 10-point lead heading into the final change. St Kilda fought off the Pies’ late fight, with a two-point victory at RSEA Park.
2: Lethal Jesse
Jesse Tawhiao-Wardlaw produced one of her best outings against the Magpies, accumulating 13 disposals, four marks, and two crucial goals in the contest. The spearhead was crucial to the victory with six score involvements, including a goal assist. The 2022 AFLW Leading goal-kicker also played 100 per cent time on ground and worked hard all afternoon.
3: All-rounder Tyanna
Tyanna Smith continued (past tense worked better here) her stellar year once again, finishing the game with 25 disposals, 12 clearances, and three tackles. The dual St Kilda Best & Fairest runner-up gave the forwards silver service with seven inside 50s and an equal game-high six score involvements. The 23-year-old also contributed with a major of her own (last few words I cut out, felt unnecessary).
4: Serene’s 75th game
Another milestone was celebrated in Season 2026 with Serene Watson putting together another tidy performance. Watson amassed 13 disposals, six tackles, and three intercepts in her 75th game for the Saints and continues to be a valuable component of the Saints’ defensive profile this season.
5: Nick Dal Santo’s last game as coach
After formally stepping down last week, it was Nick Dal Santo’s final game as St Kilda’s AFLW coach in his five-year tenure with the club. Appointed in August 2021, Dal Santo has been a true servant for the women’s program, with Saturday’s game being his 62nd and final game as senior coach.
