Nathan Freeman has made a promising return to footy, collecting 31 disposals and six tackles to be among Sandringham’s best in what was overall a disappointing day out for the Zebras.

Freeman has "utmost confidence" in body

Sandringham went down to ladder-leaders Box Hill by 64 points, but Freeman’s return after another injury setback would’ve pleased St Kilda coach Alan Richardson, who was a keen observer in the stands at Box Hill City Oval.

Second-year Saint Ed Phillips again worked tirelessly through the midfield, racking up a game-high 37 disposals to back up his 32 against Port Melbourne a fortnight ago.

Southern Saints start strong

Phillips continues to mount a case for an AFL debut, while strong displays from Jack Sinclair (33 disposals, five tackles, one goal) and Jack Lonie (31 disposals, two tackles, two goals) will give the St Kilda hierarchy something to consider at the selection table this week.

Bailey Rice provided some good run and racked up a handy 23 disposals and 3 tackles, while Daniel McKenzie and Josh Battle each kicked single majors.

Get your Halo On for 2018
